Ok Ill be honest, like many of you I was surprised to see that AIM was even still around….officially. But then I guess thats at least part of the reason they are shutting down for good.
Its hard to explain to kids today just how big AIM was. It was social media before social media. Before facebook, twitter, myspace, all of that..there was AIM.
All the time spent choosing the right name. Thinking of the perfect away message (usually some dope song lyrics, or saying you were doing something that you werent just to seem cool). It was the original cyber bullying, before that was even a thing.
And was there a better feeling than hearing the creaking door opening sound. Or the jingle of getting a message. Those were simpler times.
